Lea and Mike had been living in Israel for several years, and they both wanted their engagement session to be in a place that they spent so much of their time together since they would be moving back to the United States shortly after their wedding. For them, Tel Aviv was their place. I loved photographing Lea and Mike with the streets of Florentin as their backdrop, full of character and new things around every corner.
Lea so sweetly described how they met and fell in love,” It was right after Operation Protective Edge in August 2014 and I decided that I wanted to go to the U.S. for two months to get away from all the noise here and be in a more peaceful environment. Mike had decided to go to Iceland for a few months and live in a homestay. He wanted to have an adventure and sharpen his script writing (he is a filmmaker). Two days before I was to leave, we met at our mutual friends’ wedding. We danced, got pretty drunk and had a really fun time together. We met on the morning of the day I was to leave, for coffee, and spoke for a few hours, getting to know each other and learning of both of our summer plans. We wouldn’t see each other for 3 months and a lot can change in that time. We hugged, and I felt annoyed that it probably wouldn’t materialize into anything more. We met again before my flight for a film screening and parted ways. From there on we kept in constant touch by Skype, calls and WhatsApp and kind of fell in love without being close in proximity. Then I decided to meet him in Iceland before his adventure. It was really a beautiful and amazing country and it was also the first time we spent time physically together for more than a few hours. I will never forget that trip – it was really incredible.”
From the U.S. to Iceland to the streets of Tel Aviv, these two share a love for adventure, photography, film and appreciating the beauty around them…
