This Judean Desert engagement session is one that we have been looking forward to sharing for a while now. The drive down from Jerusalem towards the Dead Sea is honestly one of my favorites. The rolling barren hills and canyons are beautiful to look at, and a sharp contrast from the greenery that you leave behind. When planning their session, Sylvia and Paul discussed wanting to pick a location that showed a part of the country that differed from the mountainous forests in the north where their wedding would be taking place. The desert was an obvious conclusion, though it’s not easy to convince most people to make the trek out there, so I was overjoyed when Sylvia and Paul told us that they were onboard!
I had the chance to ask Sylvia about their session and experience and she had this to share:
“To be totally honest, we were a bit skeptical in the beginning. Paul had our proposal photographed professionally so we felt there wasn’t much need for it. But we were so wrong!!! The shoot was so much fun, and so worth the time. We chose to do it in the desert because since moving to Israel we have loved going camping and hiking in the desert here. It’s just such a unique and beautiful experience…plus it’s the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot! It’s so meaningful to have these photos now that we took in a place that holds so many memories for us. The session also gave us such a wonderful way to get comfortable and get to know our wedding photographer. Our shared love for film photography was just the beginning, and we ended up talking almost the whole time we were shooting- it felt like hanging out with a good friend! The end results speak for themselves- it’s easy to see that Yehoshua’s dedication and artistic eye got us such a variety of photos, including our favorite candids!”
